Mutant of the Week

Who has not seen at least one of the X-men movies or picked up an X-men comic.  It is a seriously iconic franchise.  I remember playing some X-men video game when I was younger.  I do not remember the title or where I played it but I remember the experience and since then loving the series/franchise.  I even wrote a college paper about the X-men, granted that was a class on super heroes, but that is a different story for another time.
I have therefore decided to start a new weekly feature called Mutant of the Week.  Each Friday I will post a new X-men mutant.  I will include a little bit of information about them, a picture, maybe a quote or two and a link for further information.  I do not plan on including all their info, that could seriously take forever to write for some of these characters.  These mutants may be someone almost everyone has heard of (like this week's Gambit) or they may be lesser known mutants.  This feature could go on for a while seeing as their are hundreds of x-men and mutants in the Marvel Universe.  You have to stat somewhere.  I am choosing to start with one of my personal favorites Gambit.

Name: Remy LeBeau
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #266
Powers and Abilities: Control and manipulate potential and kinetic energy.  This is most often used to thrown objects like playing cards.  He is also known for his hypnotic charm.
Other Attributes: Red eyes, speaks English and French, and often seen holding cards and/or a staff.

Gambit was abandoned as a child due to his red eyes and then later kidnapped from a hospital by thieves. He was raised by thieves and trained.  He joined the X-men after helping Storm and she brought him back with her.  Gambit is also known for his romance with fellow X-men Rogue.

In addition to his appearance in the comics, Gambit appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine portrayed by Taylor Kitsch and in the X-Men tv series.  Channing Tatum has been tapped to portray  him once again on the big screen. I for one am not happy about that choice one bit, but lets not dwell on it.
